I have the blog Wait4YourMate on my Check Out These Sites list. There are several interesting lessons to be learned from taking a look at this site.
One. It’s good to see that there are others who care about abstinence education and are writing about it. Wait4YourMate serves DuPage County, Illinois, but we can learn from them and be encouraged by them.
Two. This article of interest, Responding to Current Events, illustrates the real strengths of blogs, and how blogging can help abstinence educators in NC to create a community. Here is how it works: Medical Institute for Sexual Health (MISH) sends out a communication to an abstinence educator in Downers Grove, Illinois. That abstinence eductor passes along that information on her blog. A blogger in Raleigh, North Carolina (that’s me) reads her post and puts it on her blog for abstinence educators in NC to read. Pretty cool!
Three. If you have illustrations, communications to donors, or e-mails that you think might encourage or enlighten another abstinence educator, you can send that to me and I’ll post it on my blog. Or better yet, start your own blog and we’ll keep up with you through that. For help in blogging, check out my earlier post, On Blogging—How to get started. For assistance in setting up a blog, start with the WordPress home page.
